How do I start a video call?

Go to your Dashboard and click "New Room" in the Video Rooms section. Give your room a name, then click "Create Room". Share the invite link with anyone you want to join — they will need a registered Chavid account to join.

Why is my camera or microphone not working?

When you first join a call, your browser will ask for permission to use your camera and microphone. Click "Allow". If you accidentally clicked "Block", go to your browser's address bar, click the padlock icon, and reset the permissions for chavid.co.uk. Then refresh the page.

Can I share my screen during a call?

Yes. Once you are in a call, click the screen share button in the bottom toolbar. You can share your entire screen, a specific application window, or a browser tab. Click the button again to stop sharing.

How many people can join a video call?

Chavid supports group video calls with up to 500 participants on Individual plans and up to 1,000 on Team plans. On desktop, all cameras can be active simultaneously. On mobile, video is optimised to show up to 6 tiles for the best experience.

How do I invite someone to a call?

Inside a room, click the "Invite" button to generate a shareable link. The link is valid for 24 hours and can be used up to 50 times. You can also copy the room link from the address bar and share it directly.

How do I send a message?

Go to Messages in your dashboard. Click "New Conversation", search for a contact, and start typing. You can also message people directly from their profile page.

Can I create group chats?

Yes. When creating a new conversation, you can add multiple people to create a group chat. Give the group a name and start messaging.

How do message reactions work?

Hover over any message and click the emoji icon that appears. Choose from six reaction types. Your reaction will appear below the message and others can add their own.

Can I pin important messages?

Yes. Hover over a message, click the three-dot menu, and select "Pin message". Pinned messages appear at the top of the conversation for easy reference.

How does the free trial work?

All Chavid hubs — Video, Messenger, Email, Phone, SMS, Sticky Notes, and Gaming — are included with every account. A subscription is required after the 30-day free trial. The Webinar Hub (host live webinars) is included in paid plans. Attending webinars is free for anyone.

How do I set up my subscription?

Go to your Dashboard and click "Subscribe" or visit the Billing page from your profile menu. You will be redirected to Stripe Checkout to enter your payment details. Once confirmed, your subscription is active and you can use all Chavid hubs — Video, Messenger, Email, Phone, SMS, Sticky Notes, Gaming, and Webinar.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to your Billing page and click "Cancel subscription". Your access will continue until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged again after cancellation.

What payment methods do you accept?

We use Stripe for secure card payments. Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are accepted. Your payment details are handled directly by Stripe — Chavid never stores your card information.

How does the referral reward work?

When you refer a friend using your unique referral link and they start a paid subscription, you automatically receive one month free added to your subscription. There is no limit to how many referral rewards you can earn.

Is Chavid GDPR compliant?

Yes. Chavid is a UK-based company and fully compliant with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Your data is stored on UK servers and is never sold to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Are my video calls encrypted?

Yes. All video calls use WebRTC with DTLS-SRTP encryption. Your calls are transmitted securely and cannot be intercepted in transit.

Who can see my messages?

Only you and the people in your conversation can see your messages. Chavid staff do not read your private messages. Messages are stored securely and protected by access controls.

How do I delete my account?

Go to your Profile page and scroll to the bottom. Click "Delete account". This will permanently delete your account and all associated data within 30 days, in line with our data retention policy.

How do I change my profile picture?

Go to your Profile page and click on your avatar. You can upload a new photo from your device. Supported formats are JPG and PNG, up to 5MB.

How do I change my password?

Go to your Profile page and click "Change password". Enter your current password and then your new password twice to confirm. If you have forgotten your password, use the "Forgot password" link on the login page.

How do I add contacts?

Go to the Contacts page from your dashboard. Click "Add contact" and search by name or email address. Once they accept your request, they will appear in your contacts list.

Can I use Chavid on my phone?

Yes. Chavid works in any modern mobile browser — no app download required. For the best experience on iOS, use Safari. On Android, use Chrome. You can also install Chavid as a Progressive Web App (PWA) from your browser's menu.
